Radio Microphone Investment
Contrary to our initial plans to invest solely in Shure UHF-R, we’ve selected the Sennheiser G3 range for our corporate custom, and plan to have replaced all our old stock by March 2012. Already on the shelf are Sennheiser IEM systems, and the Shure ULX Hand Held Radio Mic Systems, with a selection of SM58 / Beta58a / Beta87a heads to satisfy live event rider requirements.
Fraser's End Fire Sub Array
For the November 2011 Firework Season in the London Parks, regular subcontractor Fraser designed a new sub array to trial. Implementing phase inversion, wave coupling, and subtle delay tactics on the XTA processing, (and an essential tape measure!) Fraser managed an impressive 500m of consistent projection from 16 SB1000e’s, all driven by eight Lab Gruppen fP6400’s.
Conference Services? Not a problem
Having spent much of the previous two months in festival mode, we seamlessly changed hats to work with Swooshed Event Production to service a 6 week roadshow supplying PA System Services in cinemas throughout the country in September and October. Ground stacked EAW JFL Line Array with SB1000 subs provided optimum consistent coverage for the events, along with Sennheiser Radio Mic Systems and a Yamaha LS9-16. We didn’t abandon the whole festival feel though – October saw us engineering the four day Return To Camden Town Irish Folk Festival, with Guinness aplenty!
Inventory Update and a busy summer ahead!
July 2011 saw the arrival of Yamaha digital consoles, Lab Gruppen PLM 10000Q’s, EAW JFL Line Array and EAW Microwedges to our stock, just in time to go straight out on the annual Pepper show run. July also saw us back at the four week moreLondon Music Festival with the Allstars, and other events in Trafalgar Square, Bricket Wood, and St Albans. In August, we returned to the Twinwood Festival alongside colleagues ESS for the best one yet, with plans for further performance areas and additional systems in 2012. Summer transport news saw the addition of a customized 3.5T LoLoader to the vehicle fleet, and trucks in Manchester, Scotland, Belfast, Amsterdam, Cologne, Ibiza, and the Isle of Wight.
Summer Concert Premier for the Cricket Club
The very first Pitch Perfect summer concert was held in June at Berkhamsted Cricket Club, which is now set to become a regular annual event after proving a roaring success. Entertec supplied complete PA System Services for the event, implementing the EAW 850 series point source system to amplify jazz, classical, and choral performances to the 1500 strong audience. With the crowd expecting to grow substantially for next year, plans are already underway for 2012...
A Musical May
Ashlyns School played host to the Berkhamsted Big Band final concert, for which Entertec and Grove Studio supplied and engineered the live sound, took a multi-track recording, and produced CDs for the group to keep in their portfolio as the performers all go their separate ways. With other events in The Dorchester and The Landmark hotels, our transport arm was also kept busy with vehicles in Ireland, Amsterdam, and Ibiza, along with the usual London traffic jams!
Inventory Update: March 2011
Traditionally a quieter time of year for the live entertainment industry, we have wasted no time in utilising the first quarter of 2011 for equipment maintenance, annual inventory PAT, and a review of our rental fleet. After careful consideration we've put a Yamaha M7CL-48 into stock, with plans for a Yamaha LS9-16, a dozen EAW MicroWedges, and four Lab Gruppen PLM10000Q’s all in the pipeline, not forgetting a thorough review of our radio microphone stock before the digital switchover – watch this space for notification on the arrival of new Shure UHF-R systems to our shelves this year!
New Year = New Branding
January 2011 has seen the introduction of our new logo, and a subsequent fresh new look throughout our website and administration infrastructure. We believe this move will be essential in making us more accessible to both existing and new customers, and maintain our highly regarded reputation for service and professionalism.
December 2010: New Premises
Having rapidly outgrown our 1200 sqft premises after two years, we've moved! Across the same yard, we now operate from a much larger and more truck-friendly warehouse, and our close association with Vista Productions means we can now also offer extensive lighting hire from under the same roof.
Another successful firework season
November 5th sees every single loudspeaker cabinet we own out in a field somewhere in the country. 2010 was no exception, and London's Wimbledon Park was wowed this year with a 4x3 cluster of our EAW 850 series, accompanied by 16 EAW SB1000's providing sub bass. Plus of course a fantastic firework display, which saw a turnout in excess of 10000 people!
EnterTec selected as production services supplier for IRHH 25th Anniversary Concert
Set in the picturesque location of West Wycombe Park, the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home hosted a charity concert in September 2010, with EnterTec as the exclusive supplier of site production. Providing a 6m Prolyte covered stage, lighting, PA, site power, and logistics all went without a hitch, and the crowd of 3000 were treated to performances from the Pepper Events July concert cast, Abba Gold, and Beverley Craven. 10CC @ Rhythm Festival 2010
EnterTec were chosen to supply main stage PA system services for this year's festivals at the Twinwood Arena, working alongside site PA suppliers ESS from Streatley. Headlining the Rhythm Festival for 2010 were 10CC, amplified through EAW 850 series stacks, accompanied by EAW 300 series fills and EAW SB1000 subs. Running through an exclusively analogue system right down to the EAW MX800i processing, other acts included The Damned, The Wailers, Donovan, and Arlo Guthrie.
JT EventTruck
In order to meet growing demand for an event logistics service offering working drivers who bear a wealth of knowledge in the industry and with associated equipment, 2009 saw the introduction of an 18T rigid and a 7.5T rigid to the vehicle fleet, and the birth of our logistics sister company, JT EventTruck. As holders of an International Operator's Licence, we've been privileged to see some of the most picturesque parts of Europe on journeys for our customers; every load being transported with the same care and attention as our own rental fleet, a trend for which we continue to be very highly regarded by our satisfied clients.
Berkhamsted School benefit from a £20k complete sound system re-fit
The Centenery Theatre at Berkhamsted School is a regular hot spot for charity events and band performances, not to mention the extensive school activities. EnterTec won the tender to supply and fit £20k's worth of new equipment, and in February 2009 a HK IL series system supported by a rock solid infrastructure was introduced to meet the challenge. Says Theatre Technician Guy Lewis: “We've had constant compliments since installation about the improved quality and coverage of the sound, not to mention the flexibility of the facilities for outside users.”
Heart Radio Dunstable's carnival float heard county-wide
Visitors attending the Luton carnival had no problem hearing the Heart Radio float this year, following the implementation of a four stack HK Audio ACTOR series system. Audio coverage was comfortable and extensive, whilst not interfering with any neighbouring floats. EnterTec also supplied the float's generator and mains distribution.
EnterTec's EAW system for UKCCA's first ministerial visit
When the in-house facilities were not quite complete with only a week before their first ministerial visit, UKCCA technicians turned to EnterTec for support. One phone call and an EAW system later, the problem was solved. Centre Technician Simon Mitchell was more than happy with the result: “We needed something capable of sound reproduction in a space where the shape of the room makes temporary system installation a bit awkward. EnterTec supplied the ideal main stage system with delays, monitors, control and outboard equipment, all within our budget, and with only a rough room drawing to calculate what was required!”
Ashlyns School production of We Will Rock You experiences sound quality that “rivals that of the west end production”
Not many school productions benefit from the technical expertise that Ashlyns was able to present for their sold-out 4 show run of We Will Rock You in March 2009. Aside from supplying a 40 head moving wash lighting rig, EnterTec put a 15 box EAW / EV sound system into the main hall – a notoriously awkward venue for acoustics. With Lab Gruppen amplifiers and a Yamaha LS9 in the engine room, Sennheiser radio microphones throughout, the 7 piece band all on in-ear feeds and an EnterTec engineer at the helm all week, audience attending the performances were astounded with the audio integrity. Show director Nickey Cripps commented: “The sound quality rivalled that of the west end production, of that there is no doubt.”
